Retirement News Articles – Bonus Story
OK, in today’s current climate, I admit to having a distaste for politicians of almost any persuasion. How could I therefore resist revisiting one of many stories relating to JFK’s philandering ways (an inconvenient truth: it runs in the family). However, this story is really not about that, but the murder itself, the conspiracy theories and that era of history and the role that women played.

Travel for Seniors
This week’s newsletter includes several slide shows, beginning with this one. In essence, this list gives you the foundation for your travel bucket list.
Article two provides a quick summary of anticipated fall foliage viewing times in different parts of the country. In addition, it lists their favorite locations if you would like to make a trip of it.

Lifestyle, Health & Welfare for Seniors
Article one is merely a quick slide show giving you ideas of sunny seaside locales in which to retire if that is your goal. At most, this is a list and further research will be needed if you become serious.
Article two, from CNN, informs us that a weekend nap to catch up on our lost sleep during a hectic week is not only pragmatic, but could be good for our heart health. This is especially true if you are often short of sleep.

Food, Nutrition & Cooking
Article one, from Kitchn, is a simple recipe for a puff pastry delight. Not to worry, even this professional cook recommends you buy your puff pastry dough from your grocery’s freezer section.
Given the last two years my son and I have experienced, eating on the fly, I would be the last one to encourage anyone to eat fast food. That said, we have had to partake in more than our fair share. Here are some meals worth considering if you are looking for instant nourishment without all the calories.

Recreation, Exercise & Hobbies
Especially as we see the summer temperatures drop, fall is a great time to consider a neighborhood or country-side bike ride. The health benefits of cycling are many and it is much easier on the joints than running. Article one can tell you more.
Article two is a great resource for hikers, giving you trail recommendations across the country.

Arts, Entertainment, and Reading
Article one provides their greatest hits list of destination cities if you are an art lover. Two cities are of no surprise, while the others may not be as well. That said, I can think of a few cities in which I have lived that I would include to lengthen this list.
Article two, from Town and Country magazine, gives you 25 great books to read as you look out the window or sit in your park bench and take in the fall colors. The article has links so you can purchase from Amazon. I would ask that you might consider going to my Amazon link and purchase there…

Financial Management for Seniors
Article one is a quick slide show listing the states that tax social security benefits to varying degrees. Sadly, my once conservative state of Colorado is now under progressive control and is number one on the list.
Inflation has a particularly harmful effect on retirees on fixed income. Article two lists ten of the many expenses we face that have gone up. Having to travel for medical reasons, I will tell you hotel rates, though not an everyday expense for most, also climbed enormously.
