Retirement News Articles – Bonus Story
Though being a full-time traveler may sound exciting, for at least one traveler, they found out there is no place like home. The article below shares the many reasons why, but don’t fret. This writer is still traveling, but doing it with shorter trips.
I Spent 9 Months Traveling the World, But I’d Never Do It Again
Travel for Seniors
So, the travel theme for this week is free accommodations. Article one links you to a house/pet sitting website that comes with free accommodations. For the adventurous and schedule flexible, this looks like a no-brainer.
The second article gives you a real-life insight to this pet-sitting gig that comes with free accommodations. It appears to be the real deal; not a bad gig if your passport is ready to go and so are you.

According to “The Telegraph”, vegetarians outnumber vegans by almost two million in the United Kingdom, but they’re in danger of being slowly cancelled by a plant-based takeover of the nation’s menus. It seems it has become harder and harder to find restaurants offering vegetarian dishes that include dairy or egg. Article one is a venting of sorts, but is a sign of the times as well.
Society likes to tell us that it sucks to get old. However, article two, from Psyche, tells us that couldn’t be further from the truth…at least up until 70. There is of course more to it than a number, and this article can fill you in.

Food, Nutrition & Cooking
Article one, from a food blog titled “Simplicity Relished”, provides a great treatise on cooking simple, which also results in cooking healthy.
Article two is a MUST READ for anyone who is a fan of fluffy southern styled biscuits. It turns out there is a scientific reason muffins from the south do indeed taste better. If I have caught your curiosity, read this article, which was one worthy of saving in my cooking files.

Article one shares insights from reviewers who have given our National Parks “one star” reviews. As an example, one reviewer described the Grand Canyon as “a big hole”. It goes to show you that you can’t please all the people all the time. Or given my 65 trips around the sun, I have found that there are some people who are never happy…or maybe it’s just that they are only happy when they are complaining?
For those that may not know, the first full week of May is National Wildflower Week. Though I could not find any history behind this celebration, article two does give you a primer on what to do to celebrate.

Arts, Entertainment, and Reading
From Washington Irving to Stephen King, article one, from Literary Hub, provides a list of the most iconic shorts stories over the last 200 plus years. Iconic, for the purpose of this list, would be stories that have made into the general “cultural consciousness”. For me, this is a good list of must-reads.
Article two provides a great list of movies, both new and classic for mature adults. I for one, can take only so much (actually, very little) of Adam Sandler and high school humor.

Financial Management for Seniors
Admittedly, article one is targeted for those just starting to save for retirement. However, some of it applies for those later in their earning years…and, it wouldn’t hurt to share the article with your sons, daughters and grandchildren.
Article two, from Reader’s Digest, lists 37 senior discounts from major brands in a host of subject areas (travel, entertainment, restaurants, etc.).
